One of my favorite summer Saturday morning traditions is sleeping in (which these days means I get up at 7:00 or 7:30 a.m. if I’m lucky), loading the (now double) stroller in the car, and taking off for the farmer’s market.
After grabbing some fresh fruits and veggies and letting Xav check out some produce he’s never seen before, we grab some great vegan filo dough treats from a local baker. We’re sometimes lucky enough to catch up with some friends and their beautiful son who live near the market. Then we walk over to the coffee shop and bakery that always has a couple of vegan options. Lately, it’s been raspberry bars and coconut cupcakes. We’ve been enough times that Xavier now requests the cupcakes by name. He’s also gone from immediately wanting Mommy to hold him when we go into the shop to running over to the display case and pointing out what he would like (cupcakes, of course).
When Xav gets antsy, we head to the toy store nearby to play with the trains. I didn’t get any photos of the train table today, but many of them would have featured a stubborn almost two-year-old boy pitching a fit when we told him it was time to go and those kinds of images don’t usually make for great blog material. Hey, the perfect Saturday morning can’t be that perfect. Quinn slept through the whole adventure, of course, but I do think he enjoyed it in his own way. The little bugger seems to be most calm when surrounded by chaos. Good thing we have a toddler on hand who likes to “make BIG noises!”
